Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) and Static Var Generator (SVG) are IGBT-based power electronics devices that solve the two biggest power quality problems in modern electrical systems — harmonic distortion and reactive power imbalance. The AHF continuously monitors load current, detects harmonic distortion, and injects a compensating current of equal magnitude but opposite phase to cancel harmonics in real time. The SVG detects phase angle difference and injects leading or lagging current into the grid, making the fundamental power factor unity. Together they deliver complete power quality correction — harmonic mitigation, dynamic reactive compensation, three-phase load balancing and neutral current reduction.
AHF and SVG are complementary devices. Used together, they deliver complete power quality correction for the most demanding industrial and commercial installations.
The AHF uses a three-level neutral clamping (NPC) topology with IGBTs to actively inject a compensating current that cancels harmonics generated by non-linear loads such as VFDs, UPS systems, rectifiers, computers and LED lighting. It continuously measures load current and dynamically filters harmonics from the 2nd to the 50th order, reducing THDi to below 5% and ensuring compliance with IEEE-519 and IEC-61000-3.
The SVG works as a controlled current source that provides any type of current waveform in real time. When the load generates inductive or capacitive current, it makes the load current lag or lead the voltage. The SVG detects the phase angle difference and injects leading or lagging current into the power system, making the phase angle of current almost the same as that of voltage on the transformer side — achieving near-unity power factor. It also corrects load imbalance and mitigates neutral current.

Reduces transformer losses, cable heating and equipment downtime — lowering operating costs and carbon emissions.
AHF and SVG solutions are deployed across a wide range of industries where power quality directly impacts productivity and equipment life.
Poor power quality is one of the most overlooked causes of equipment failure, energy waste and production downtime in modern facilities. Harmonics from variable frequency drives, UPS systems and LED lighting overheat transformers, age cable insulation and cause capacitor banks to fail prematurely. Reactive power drags down the power factor, attracting utility penalties and reducing the usable capacity of transformers and cables. Three-phase imbalance further reduces transformer capacity and increases neutral current.
Our AHF and SVG solutions address all of these problems simultaneously. The AHF actively cancels harmonics in real time, the SVG corrects reactive power and load imbalance dynamically, and together they restore the quality of power at the point of use — protecting equipment, reducing energy costs and ensuring compliance with grid requirements.
Share your load details, harmonic profile and power factor requirements — our team will recommend the most suitable AHF and SVG combination for your application.
